Palo Santo Wood Bursera graveolens, planck Palo Santo is a South American rainforest botanical with a powerful, mystical aroma. This sacred wood is used for cleansing and purifying a space. Although it is often used for ritual, Palo Santo is also known by many of the local people for its other benefits. It is believed to be a treatment for a number of conditions, although these uses have not been studied and confirmed by the FDA. Palo Santo is a 100% natural, organic product from the South American rainforests. Like Indian Sandalwood, this product is considered an important cultural resource. Its harvesting and sale are regulated by the government to prevent overharvestation or environmentally destructive harvesting methods. Our Palo Santo is collected only from standing, dead trees and branches. No living trees are ever cut to acquire this product. To use Palo Santo as a smudge, light one end and let it burn for a few seconds then, blow out the flame and allow the smoke to work. You might also try shaving small pieces off of a chunk and using as an incense to be burned on makko or charcoal for the excellent aroma. Palo Santo wood is also used as an herbal tea.
